After the morning that we spent in the museums we went to the Olympic Stadium Kalimarmaro. We were lucky because finally the whether began to be more favorable for talking a walk. The Stadium is located on place of the ancient Olympic Stadium, unfortunately it is closed to the visitors but you can admire its dimensions through a fence. Close to the gate there is plenty of aggressive sellers of city maps, it is really hard to repel their attacks of we had simply bad luck. When you walk the street on which the stadium is located, you reach another street which leads to the First Athenians Cemetery which appeared to us to be really a serene place of last rest. We – the Slavic nations, are really overpowered with the gloomy climate which causes that even after death we have to lie on a dark, marshy cemetery. The Athenian Cemetery is white, full of visitors (OK – in Poland we have the same situation) and one cannot say that this place is especially melancholic. The place is in classical style, one can admire here a lot of beautiful tombstones, including the most famous called a “sleeping girl”. This is a place of burial of many famous people, including the actress Melina Mercury and archeologist Schliemann. I must confess that when we were looking the grave of Schliemann fear fell upon us – we thought that one guy is following us but than it appeared that he is also looking for some grave so we did without escaping, especially that the hill on which there is this grave of Schliemann is not encouraging – it is quite secluded and the best you can say about it is that there are nesting wild cats, so we had some strong impressions;-)
